Abingdon Square Memorial

World War I memorials

This is one of many memorials erected by New York City neighborhoods to honor husbands, brothers, fathers, and friends who died during the Great War. Among about 30 others are the Chelsea Park Memorial, the Inwood Memorial, and the 107th Infantry Memorial.

On the reasons for the dearth of memorials after World War II, see the Brooklyn War Memorial.
