Transcription Services
Polyglot Paleographer and
Proofreader
Available for Transcribing Documents
If your handwriting is horrendous
and your typing is hunt-and-peck,
why not hire an expert to transcribe your manuscripts?
My experience:
-
Transcribed
Spanish documents of the 12th and 13th c., while researching my
Ph.D. dissertation in paleography (ancient scripts)
-
Helped my
dissertation advisor catalogue the medieval and Renaissance
manuscripts (10th-16th c.) at the Beinecke Library, Yale University
-
Typed French,
German and Spanish essays for a prominent publisher of high-school
textbooks
-
Read and
catalogued manuscripts from the 16th to 20th c. for a rare book
dealer
-
Transcribed
business and personal correspondence of a 20th-c. actress (over
1,000 typed pages)
Given all that, your handwriting will probably not
stump me. My spelling, grammar and syntax are excellent. I’ve proofread
booksellers’ catalogues, legal documents, and my own writings. For the
polyglots among you, I have a reading knowledge of French, Spanish,
Portuguese, Latin, Ancient Greek, and Modern Greek.
Fast turn-around. Prices start at $3.00 per double-spaced page
(in English) and
increase depending on language and the difficulty of the material to be transcribed.
Send scans of two sample pages for a price quote
and an estimated turn-around time. This will also allow you (free of
charge) to check my transcriptions for accuracy.

NOTE: I'm
also available to transcribe material from New York institutions and
archives. Contact me for details and references.
